MASTER OF LEGAL STUDIES TRACK

SHRM in PartnershipPROGRAM DESCRIPTION Human Resources are the hub of any business organization. This department handles everything from recruiting, payroll, benefits, employee development, training, administration and knowledge of state and federal laws. Such an important and versatile position requires a solid foundation. Working in HR today means you will be bombarded with legal questions and governmental regulations on a daily basis. With so much responsibility, you can’t afford to feel unprepared. By giving you an understanding of law as it relates to your role in HR, Trinity’s Master of Legal Studies in Human Resources Management arms you with the skills to confidently guide a company professionally and with integrity. Trinity Law School’s Master of Legal Studies degree is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook & Template. Trinity Law School MLS students are eligible to become SHRM Student Members at a discounted rate, and to potentially apply to sit for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) exam.

Philosophy and Theology of Justice (3 units)
Business Organizations (3 units)

Human Resources Compliance (3 units)
Criminal Law (3 units)

Choose 9 units from the following:
Staffing and Compensation Administration (3 units)
Employment Discrimination (3 units)
Labor Law and ADR (3 units)
Performance Assessment (3 units)
Strategic Planning (3 units)

MLS applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). The GRE is not required for admission. In addition to the application, applicants must provide official transcripts from the colleges/universities at which they have earned degrees and two letters of recommendation.

Total Program Cost: $22,500 (tuition only)The above totals do not include fees. Scholarships and federal financial aid are available.

Except as provided in rule 4.30 of the Admissions Rules (legal education in a foreign state or country), completion of a professional law degree program at this law school other than for the Juris Doctor degree does not qualify a student to take the California Bar Examination or satisfy the requirements for admission to practice law in California. It may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy requirements for admission to the practice of law in any other jurisdiction. A student intending to seek admission to practice law should contact the admitting authority in the jurisdictions where the student intends to qualify to sit for the bar examination or to be admitted to practice for information regarding their legal education requirements.
